This list includes platforms established by our editors and our readers. If no curator is listed, that position is open. More importantly, PLEASE CONSIDER CREATING AND CURATING YOUR OWN UNIQUE PLATFORM by clicking on the big [ + ] sign below. We welcome niche platforms especially (e.g., 'Hemofiltration for cytokine-driven illnesses,' 'Data-driven ventilator management,' etc.).

how to (platform)

What is a PLATFORM?

A platform is the place in PICUPEDIA where you can gather and present links to materials on a particular (fairly narrow) topic. Think of it as an 'Essential Reading' collection. For instance you might grow and maintain a platform on 'Oximetry in cyanotic heart disease'.

That sounds like curation

It does. You would be the Oximetry Curator. Or one of them, at least. Maybe someone will maintain a platform on 'Oximetry engineering'.

Where do these links lead?

The curator looks for the good stuff (or already knows where it is). For instance, she might decide that, of the 500+ articles returned in a PubMed search of 'Oximetry in cyanotic heart disease', these twenty (20) are most interesting. And five (5) of them might exist in free full-text format (e.g., at PubMed Central or at PLoS One). Her citations for those five would be linked to the full article. The others would be to the abstract.

Not only journal articles

Other stuff as well. She adds a citation linked to an explanatory animation on YouTube, and another to an interview of a cardiologist conducted in London and posted at OPENPediatrics. And another to an oximetry calculator at Cornell University.

How will PICUPEDIA grow?

PICUPEDIA depends on the generosity, and the intellectual curiosity, of the pediatric critical care community and its colleagues in related disciplines. As we accumulate a critical mass of original and linked material, various interest areas will emerge, curated not only by pediatric intensivists but by professionals in other disciplines as well (e.g., perhaps an engineer will curate a platform on oscillating mechanical ventilators).

Can I start a platform?

Absolutely. And we prefer that you declare a niche platform, like 'Interleukin-6 (IL-6) in sepsis' rather than 'Interleukin-6'. You can create your own platform here.

Can I maintain several platforms?

We'd love that.

Can I just send PICUPEDIA a single citation?

Sure. Just click here.

What if I cite the same thing as someone else?

We all repeat ourselves. We do.
